MAN’S PROBLEM The basic problem of mankind is stated in Is. 59:2, ‘‘your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God.’’ God is holy, and we are not. There is a great chasm between mankind and God caused by our sin. Scripture says that we all inherited basic sin nature from Adam, which ultimately will result in eternal death in Hell. GOD’S SOLUTION Thankfully, God has provided the solution to man’s problem. Rom. 5:8 states, ‘‘while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’’ God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place, as our substitute (John 3:16). Jesus loved us so much that He willingly laid down His life on our half (John 10:11,18). Jesus took our punishment, so we would not have to take it ourselves Because Christ took our sin upon Himself, God could now offer eternal life as a free gift (Rom. 5:23) to mankind. You cannot earn your salvation. You can only receive it as a free gift. MAN’S RESPONSE The most important question in life then, is this, ‘‘How can I receive God’s free gift of eternal life?’’ 1. Admit you are a sinner, destined for hell, in need of God’s grace. (Rom. 3:23) 2. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross in your place, paying the penalty for your sin, trusting fully in His death and resurrection to provide eternal life for you. (2 Cor. 5:21, I Pet. 2:24) 3. Turn away from your sins (Luke 13:3). 4. Commit your life to living for Jesus Christ who bought you with His shed blood, confessing Him as Lord and Savior of your life. (Rom. 10:9-10) GOD’S PROMISE Jesus said, ‘‘Truly, Truly, I say to you, He who hears My words, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.’’ John 5:24
